Wasn’t sure what the quality of the photos would be but am completely satisfied. Had to return the original one because the photos printed out with a streak but the replacement is perfect. Easy to carry around and you can have printed pictures immediately. This would be a great gift idea for all ages.

I bought this printer for “grandma” so she could print pictures of her grandkids. She just got a digital camera and needed something to print out the pictures. She says she is electronic challenged. I set it up for her and showed her how to print pictures. She started printing and used up the five cards/pictures she got with the system without any help. I had to run to the store to get more paper/cartridges. She was very impressed with the quality of the picture and the ease of use. Grandma just turned 77 and loves the printer!

I deducted one star due to the need to use special printing paper.

Digital Camera Printer Explained

Printing your own pictures is a convenient and fun thing to do. There are a few considerations you may want to keep in mind to help you choose the right digital camera printer.

First, how important is portability? If you have a need to print your pictures on-the-go then you may want to consider a snapshot style instant digital camera printer. While they won’t fit in your pocket, they are small enough to fit on a laptop table with your laptop. There are limitations, though. Your pictures will be 4X6 inches or smaller and the quality suffers somewhat when compared to the productions of a full-size digital camera printer.

If portability is not a factor for you, a full-size digital camera printer is perfect for use in your home or home office. Many inkjet printers are capable photo printers including combination fax/print/scan printers. These models normally use paper up to 8.5X11 inches so you can print large and combination large/small photo pages. You will get better quality from these models as compared to the snapshot style. Of course to get good quality photos from any digital camera printer you need to use a good photo quality paper to print on.

Next, what about fade? Yes, it’s true that inkjet pictures fade over time making the quality of the photos suffer. If this is a major concern then you may want to consider buying a thermal digital camera printer. The quality is a little better and thermal adds a coating that keeps the ink from fading for an extended period.

What about color bias in black and white photos? Color bias is a problem because most printers, which have black, cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges, must mix color ink with black to get the various shades of gray. Obviously you will be able to detect a slight color hue with some mixes. Now, with the advent of eight, nine and ten-color printers, gray is a separate color with its own cartridge. The difference in the monochrome photo quality is remarkable.

Regardless of which type of digital camera printer you choose, you will find it to be a fine addition to your electronic device collection.

Picking the Right Digital Camera Printer

Adding a digital camera printer to your stable of electronic is a great idea. The convenience of being able to print photos from your home or office, or even on-the-go, is well worth the investment. Some of you may even already own a digital camera printer and just haven’t used it. You are missing out on great fun and a wonderful creative outlet.

Printing photos on a digital camera printer involves, not surprisingly, taking a picture from a digital camera, transferring it to a printer via wireless, cable, memory card or through a desktop or laptop computer, and printing it onto photo quality paper.

Digital camera printers can be the very portable snapshot type that is very convenient and easy to transport. They are limited to 4X6 inch photos or smaller and some do not use the same paper, ink or process that regular inkjet printers employ.

Digital camera printers can also be regular full-size inkjet or combination printer scanner copier fax models. While these do not offer the convenience of portability that the snapshot types do, they often have more versatility especially when it comes to the various sizes of your prints. Obviously a full-size printer will be able to use larger paper sizes than the snapshot models.

Installing your digital camera printer is usually a very simple process requiring only a quick hook-up and the insertion of an installation CD. The installation CD walks you through a few steps and viola you are ready to print. Several models even include a free sample of printer paper for you to start out with.

Digital camera printers have seen some important innovations in the recent past with the introduction of eight, nine and ten-color versions. The biggest improvement brought by the additional colors is, believe it or not, in the printing of black and white photos. Traditional four and six-color printers mix color ink with black to produce gray. The resulting gray has an often-visible color bias. The addition of a separate gray ink cartridge to digital camera printers makes for incredibly better monochrome photos.

If you are concerned about the common problem of fading that affects inkjet photos you may want to consider a thermal digital camera printer. The main difference in a thermal printer to a regular inkjet is that it adds a waterproof coating to the photo to keep your image from fading for a much longer period of time.
